About Miss Kristi!
Welcome to an exciting year at Mont Kiara International School! My name is Kristi Syjut and I am one of the Middle School Math teachers for the 2016/2017 school year. I teach grade 8. I am from Hobart, Indiana in the U.S. and I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a special license specifically for middle school mathematics.
This year is my first year teaching at MKIS and my fifth year teaching overseas. I spent four years working at the Bahrain Bayan School located in Bahrain which is in the Middle East. I also previously taught grade five at a school in the United States. I absolutely love teaching middle school and working with my students to achieve great things!
At my old school, I was the intermediate level volleyball coach and I loved the experience and my girls. Volleyball not only teaches them how to play a sport, it instills in them determination and teaches them how to have good sportsmanship. Therefore, I will be coaching the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team here at MKIS!
Previously, I was the adviser for the Bahrain Bayan School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. I love being involved in service learning and hope to get involved in some projects here at MKIS.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, playing volleyball, and swimming.
Since moving overseas, I have discovered my passion for traveling. I have seen so many new and beautiful places and I intend to experience as many more adventures as I can. In the past four years I have visited Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Oman, The Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos, Nepal and now MALAYSIA. The memories you make in these places are ones you keep for a life time and I am so grateful for these opportunities.
I love the fact that in my profession, each day the students aren't the only ones learning something new.
This promises to be a great year! :)
Sincerely,
Ms. Kristi Syjut
